The APPT Season 2 event in Macau is set to hit record levels for an Asian poker tournament with 500 players set to finally buy in at the Grand Waldo Casino.
After seven hours of play on Day 1b today (Sept 2) a further 77 players have made it through to Day 2 and will be joining the 45 players who survived Day 1a.
Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier caught everyone's attention at the begining of the day by dressing as Batman's arch foe The Joker. The make-up and clothes seemed to work their charm as the PCA 2008 winner went on to survive the day's play with 15,100 chips.
Fellow Team PokerStars Pro Chad Brown also went through to Day 2 with 40,600 chips. Last season's Macau high roller event finalist David Steicke, from Hong Kong, was today's chip leader with 87,700 chips but German Andre Wagner remains overall chip leader from Day 1a with 109,700. PokerStars online qualifier Dennis Waterman from the USA finished in second place today with 75,800.
Former WSOP World Champion Johnny Chan from the USA also survived the event. Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso also competed today but unfortunately busted out in the last hand.
